USU Student Sub-Unit of the Utah Chapter of the American Fisheries Society
The Student Chapter of the American Fisheries Society is a group of undergraduate and graduate students who have an interest in fisheries and aquatic ecology. The mission of the American Fisheries Society is to improve the conservation and sustainability of fishery resources and aquatic ecosystems by advancing fisheries and aquatic science and promoting the development of fisheries professionals.
During the school year we coordinate speakers, seminars, and workshops, and develop the continuing education course for the annual meeting of the state chapter. In addition, we plan to continue funding an annual scholarship in the College of Natural Resources for an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in fisheries or aquatic ecology, and try to participate in on the ground projects that benefit fisheries resources in Utah.
