Website Updates

We maintain the QCNR website as a resource for students and faculty. Information is ever changing and evolving, and we rely on you to help us keep content up-to-date and looking good. Changes to ENVS, WILD and WATS pages can be made by your department contact. Other requests (or if you aren't sure) can be sumbitted to lael.gilbert@usu.edu or miranda.lorenc@usu.edu

Updates & Changes

Please include with your email request:

  • The web address of the page that needs edits
  • The location of the text to delete/change on the page
  • New text written out as you'd like it to appear

New Content

Please contact us to request a strategy meeting. We'll discuss:

  • Communication goals for your content
  • How you'd like it structured on the page/site
  • If it is something that belongs on the QCNR website, or somewhere else

Directory Updates

There are two online directories at USU:

USU Directory

The USU Directory has public contact information about departments, faculty, and staff. Login is required to view directory details (to avoid spammers).

  • Personal name, email and phone number: Update from the personal information page in Banner.
  • USU office, phone, title and position: The directory manager in QCNR Business Services can help you to update this information, and whether it is visible to the public.

The QCNR Department Directory is managed by QCNR. It is customizable and visible without a login. Access it from the top menu of the QCNR site.

  • Update your information through your department contact.
  • Choose to include links to lab websites, to list courses and grad students, and more. Example
  • We recommend linking to Google Scholar or your Faculty Success page rather than using a CV, as it is easily outdated (but we are flexible).
  • You can opt-in to additional fields (contact us to request) including pronouns, an "appointment" button and/or a secondary website link that you can name (for things like name pronounciation).
  • Submit a new photo at least every few years. See below for guidelines.

USU Experts

Some QCNR faculty are also listed on the USU Faculty Experts pages, which are managed by university-level Marketing and Communications. You can update your information on these pages by filling out this form. You can request a new experts profile here

Directory Headshots

Headshots should be updated every few years. New photos can be submitted to lael.gilbert@usu.edu or miranda.lorenc@usu.edu. We can also take new photos. Please reach out to to schedule a time.

Please choose images with the following elements.

  • We prefer an outdoor setting, but it isn't required.
  • No selfies, sunglasses or masks.
  • Please be looking at the camera.
  • Avoid logos and crazy t-shirts (we can help Photoshop these out if requested).
  • Photos will be cropped to a 3:4 ratio (we can help with that).
  • USU also offers professional headshot services for faculty and staff (indoor, white background). Time slots can be scheduled most months.

Faculty Lab Pages

If you’d like QCNR to host a simple lab page on USU's system, we offer two templates. You won't have direct editing access -- requests for changes come through our office (per direction of USU IT). You are also welcome to build a site of your own using Wordpress or Google pages outside USU's system. This is the best option for those who want a more complex layout. External sites also travel well if you make a shift away from USU. We don’t require oversight of these pages, and are happy to include the external link in the QCNR directory.
