Research Interests

My research aims to understand connections between form and function in fluvial systems and to use these connections to improve predictions of resilience to disturbances such as floods, fires, and drought. I am particularly interested in understanding drivers of temporary storage of water, sediment, and organic material following disturbance across variably inundated systems such as floodplains, wetlands, and non-perennial streams. I use a combination of field-based studies and statistical and numerical modeling to address these questions, particularly focusing on open-access and low-cost tools that can be utilized outside of an academic setting.

Opportunities

I am currently recruiting graduate and undergraduate students to my lab! I look for motivated students who are excited about rivers and the communities and ecosystems they support. For more info on opportunities, please see my website
