Elana is a Master's student advised by Dr.Karin Kettenring in the Wetland Ecology and Restoration Lab. Her research focuses on restoration of wetland communities, particularly on the drivers that lead to biotic resistance across different community types. Originally from the Massachusetts North Shore, Elana graduated from Middlebury College with a joint degree in environmental studies and biology. She served two terms as an AmeriCorps member after college, first as the habitat steward for the CISMA for the Battenkill Watershed and then as the land stewardship coordinator for the Mass Audubon Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. Both of these positions focused on invasive plant removal and native habitat restoration, inspiring her to pursue graduate work focused on aiding restoration practitioners. Elana's other interests include hiking, reading, and hanging out with her pet rabbit.
