Biography
Faculty Advisor: Dr. Charles Hawkins
Leonce is an Ecology Ph.D. student advised by Dr. Charles Hawkins in the Department of Watershed Sciences. His research focuses on establishing a state-of-the-science monitoring and assessment program designed to meet the aquatic biodiversity conservation and restoration goals of Rwanda’s national water resources policies. His research interest lies in stream ecology, aquatic biodiversity and conservation. Leonce is originally from Rwanda and holds an M.S. in Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resources Management from the University of Rwanda and in BioGeoSciences from the University of Koblenz. Since 2015, he has worked in the lab of limnology and aquaculture at the University of Rwanda and has participated in research on the aquatic biodiversity of Rwanda. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching basketball, exploring the outdoors, hiking and gardening.
