Biography
Saddy Pineda is a Ph.D. Student in Watershed Sciences sponsored by the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. He is working with Dr. Sarah Null in the Aquatic Habitat, Climate, and Water Analysis (ACWA) Lab. His research includes the use of drones, rainfall-runoff models, and climate predictions to better understand how climate variability might affect agriculture and ecosystems in Utah, including the potential of water banking to add flexibility for farmers and Great Salt Lake water managers. Saddy earned a B.S. in Forestry Engineer with a specialization in Integrated Management of Watersheds and Forest Management at the National University of Forest Sciences in Honduras. He also earned a master’s degree in project management at Central American Technological University. He has more than 13 years of experience working in different governmental institutions, non-governmental, and multilateral organizations. He was the Head of the Forest and Climate Change department nation-wide for Honduras’ National Forest Conservation Institute. This position allowed him to become a member of Honduran delegations at international conferences hosted by multilateral organizations, including at the United Nations. Before joining Utah State University as a Fulbright doctoral student, he taught at the National University of Agriculture.
