Physical Habitat and Riparian Assessments

We are actively working on predictive models of natural conditions for stream habitat indicators frequently collected by rapid assessment protocols. The EPA, USFS, and BLM have collaborated to develop an integrated stream physical habitat dataset, and we are actively using this dataset to understand natural variation across the landscape at interagency reference sites. Indicators we are modeling include percent fine sediment <2mm, percent pools, pool frequency, frequency and volume of large wood, percent canopy cover, bank angle, and percent undercut banks. Models may not achieve desired levels of precision needed for standard ecological assessments though. Please contact us for more information.
