Welcome to the S.J & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources

The S.J. & Jessie E. Quinney College of Natural Resources works to better understand our natural ecosystems and to foster the sustainable use of our resources. Awareness of human interactions with our environment is a critical component of better resource management.  We focus on the effects of human activities on aquatic and terrestrial landscapes and ecosystems. We seek solutions to problems such as air and water pollution, loss of biodiversity, and conflict between different uses of our resources.

Our students gain a broad understanding of management while gaining a deep knowledge in areas such as plant and animal populations, land use planning, environmental quality, recreation, and socio-ecological systems.

Our College is a place where people are excited about their work because we can and do make a real difference – both in advancing science and in benefiting society.  We change the shape of our landscapes and the quality of life for the people of our country.  QCNR is an institution in which students, faculty, and staff are optimistic about the future.

More information about our educational, research, and extension programs is provided at our three departmental web sites (Watershed Sciences, Environment and Society, and Wildland Resources). In addition to our departmental graduate degrees we also offer a Master of Natural Resources, a non-thesis program, intended for students and practicing professionals with a career orientation in natural resource management.

We welcome you to the QCNR website.  As you enjoy exploring our College, please let us know if we can answer any questions,
