We partner with the U.S. Forest Service, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, Utah Forestry, Fire and State Lands, National Parks and non-profit agencies to provide valuable professional experience to students during the summer. Internships are an integral part of our college program and help students begin to build professional experience as soon as their freshman year.
QCNR internships are open to all undergraduate students enrolled in a QCNR major at any USU campus. Beginning in 2025, summer interns will enroll in a one-credit 7-week Spring course (NR 4251) to help prepare for their internship and a one-credit 7-week Fall course (NR 4252) to reflect on and communicate their internship achievements. Students may also choose to earn course credit during their summer internship.
Internship Program for Tribal Students: Members of federally recognized tribes in and around Utah are invited to apply to our new internship program, VITAL4NR. Eligibility is open to these students in any QCNR major, and exploratory students interested in a QCNR major. Learn More Here.
The USGS/TNC Moab internship was definitely the best field work experience I’ve ever had. Not only were all the people incredibly motivated and fun to work with, but made sure that I got what I wanted out of the internship and that I knew what the data was being used for. I was able to work on so many different projects and see what large scale research looks like at each step of the research process. I learned so many valuable skills both in the field and in the office. I also got to live in one of the most incredible and beautiful places in the world.
