Vehicles
There are two vehicles available for WATS faculty, staff, and student use. The Tacoma has a topper, tow hitch (includes ball mount), and four-wheel drive. The RAV4 has all-wheel drive. The charge assessed for use of each vehicle is determined solely by the number of miles you drive. If you do not necessarily need a four-wheel drive/higher clearance pickup and both vehicles are available, please request the RAV4.
Each vehicle has a blue duffel bag with emergency supplies, including jumper cables, flashlight, tire gauge, first aid kit, space blanket, small multi-tool, tow cable, fire extinguisher, and shovel. Please be sure these items stay with the vehicle.

Instructions
Before Your Trip
Please be sure your mandatory driver's training is up to date and that you have submitted a Travel Authorization (TA) which is required for most trips. Contact the Business Service Center for help with TAs.
Please request a gas card pin from Motor Pool (435-797-3145 or fleet@usu.edu). Gas cards are for that particular vehicle only; please use it and not another form of payment to fill up the vehicle (unless you did not acquire a gas pin ahead of time). Pins are good for any vehicle in the USU fleet. You must use a gas station that accepts Fleet cards. Find a gas station.
Keys are located in the WATS copy room, NR 212. Room and lockbox codes will be emailed to you upon confirmation of your reservation. Please take only one set of keys. Please secure the lockbox and close the copy room door if accessing the room after normal business hours. The NR building is open M-F, 7am-7pm; you will need keycard access outside of those hours.
Vehicles are parked to the east and southeast of Motor Pool in the government vehicle lots on 1400 North between 800 East and 1200 East (starred lots in image above).
On Your Trip
- Note odometer beginning and ending mileage. Use the Report Vehicle Mileage form (above) to submit those numbers. Please note that for multi-day reservations you are now required to report your start point, end point, starting odometer reading, and ending odometer reading for each day. Please fill out the vehicle mileage log located next to the key safe to help keep track of these numbers.
- Any accident, however minor, must be reported to local law enforcement. A USU vehicle accident report must be filed as soon as possible following the incident.
- Fill up the gas tank before returning the vehicle. Gas cards are located in the center console of each vehicle and are to be used for that particular vehicle only. The Motor Pool pumps are open 24/7 and are typically cheaper than the gas stations in town.
- Return the vehicle to one of the lots pictured above. Leave it in better shape than you found it.
- Promptly return keys and mileage log clipboard to the lockbox in NR 212.
